Areas we paint in Auckland
We work across Auckland, starting on the North Shore. Each suburb below has its own housing story, drawn from Auckland Council and Heritage New Zealand records: which era the houses come from, what they are built of, and their setting. Those three things shape a repaint more than anything else.
North Shore
-
Devonport
Timber villas and cottages from 1870 to 1940, the special character overlay, and salt air on a peninsula.
-
Northcote
Villas on Northcote Point from 1880 to 1940, and the 1950s and 60s state houses of central Northcote, each with its own prep needs.
-
Birkenhead
Villas, bungalows and state houses from the 1890s to 1940s on Birkenhead Point, and two-storey homes on the coast.
-
Bayswater and Belmont
A 1910 subdivision, bungalows, post-war state and Navy houses in solid timber, and homes on a harbour peninsula.
-
Takapuna
Remnant villas and bungalows among infill, state houses beside beachfront homes, and salt exposure close to the beach and Lake Pupuke.
-
Beach Haven
Modest 1920s bungalows and the 1960s and 70s timber homes built on former orchards after the Harbour Bridge opened.
-
Milford
Early baches, 1960s and 70s group-built homes, and architect-designed houses on the roads down to the beach and marina.
-
East Coast Bays
1960s brick, block and weatherboard homes, Parade of Homes estates and houses on steep coastal ridges.
Central and West Auckland
-
Ponsonby
1860s to 1880s workers’ cottages and early villas on tight lots, timber weatherboard and fretwork, and lead-safe prep on old paint.
-
Grey Lynn
The 1880s Surrey Hills Estate, cottages and villas in the east, transitional villas and bungalows in the west, and fretwork to restore.
-
Mt Eden
Stonyhurst Estate villas and bungalows, steep 1800s streets on Maungawhau, and brick, plaster and shingle houses among the weatherboard.
-
Titirangi
Post-war modernist houses, 1970s pole houses on steep bush sections, cedar boards and the Waitākere Ranges setting.
Not on the list?
We take enquiries from anywhere in Auckland. These suburbs are listed because public records say enough about their houses to be useful; plenty of others are just as much part of the work. Wherever you are, the house painting guide and the quote form are the place to start.
